Everlasting Festival of Reading

As part of Northampton College Library's aim to encourage a culture of reading, we would like to hear from people about what kind of books they like to read, who their favourite authors are, or what they are reading at the moment.
For me, as it's a seasonal book which seems appropriate- Dickens at Christmas by, of course, Charles Dickens. It includes A Christmas Carol and other stories he wrote for this time of year. I will let you know how I get on with it soon.

If you have any books or authors you would like to tell other people about, then please respond to this post. Merry Christmas and happy reading.

  1. As a lover of classical literature, I've decided to read The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. The film adaptation will be out next year so want to read it before then. I've attempted to read this a few times and have never made it past the 20 page mark - I think his prose style is very challenging! However, having just conquered Anna Karenina, I feel I'm on a bit of role and I am looking forward to getting lost in Fitzgerald's glamourous 1920s American world!

  2. I have just read Thursdays in the Park by Hilary Boyd. It was an enjoyable, easy to read story about a woman in her sixties re-evaluating her life and relationships.

  3. I love my crime fiction and am half way through Mark Billingham's 'Good as Dead'. It's set over 3 days and is the 10th in the Tom Thorne series. Brilliant, no nonsense crime and suspense but not too gory and I have no idea what the outcome will be. Roll on book 11!
