Great British Tea Party 2010 update

06/01/11
Just to let you all know the grand total was £324.66 and the grid game answer was 'Fluffles'. Thanks again to everyone who took part.

Wallace and Gromit Great British Tea Party logoThanks to everyone who came to the various LRC's to support our charity event. Hope you enjoyed the drinks and cakes, some of which were baked by our good selves, and well done to those who won prizes in the raffles. If you took part in the grid game the answers will be revealed on 21st December 2010, so we will let you know then.
You have helped us to raise almost £300 for Wallace and Gromit's Children's Foundation and we still have some funds trickling in. Well done us and well done you- come and help us again next year when we hope to raise even more.

'Tis the season to be magical'

'Wands at the ready'
With the new Harry Potter film smashing box office records at the moment (deservedly so, it is very very good!!), why not remind yourself where it all began. Between them, the NC libraries stock all the Harry Potter DVD's and books. DVD's are free to hire for 1 week- now that's better than  Blockbuster isn't it?

6 Book Challenge

Six Book Challenge 2011 logo
The Six Book Challenge 2011 will be starting in January. Those taking part are asked to read six books between January and June and keep a log, noting down a few lines about the book and scoring it out of 5
( 1 star= low, 5 stars= high). It's great opportunity for those who have English as a second language or are not confident readers, to improve their literacy skills. There are prizes for those who complete the challenge plus a chance to be entered into a national prize draw for a London theatre trip. We will start signing people up at the Wallace and Gromit Open Day but you are welcome to come into the LRCs if you would like some more information and we will continue to let people join well into the New Year.

New Term

At the beginning of this new term, things seem to be going well in the LRC. Students have been friendly and interested in our resources and we have high hopes for a really good year. Looking forward to the Booth Lane move in April- can't wait to see the new building working properly.
