It's Awards Season...

We have reached the time of year when all of our students' hard work pays off- it's the Library Awards Ceremony.
All of the students who have completed their Six Book Challenge, won awards in the Library competitions, done exceptionally well in the Reading Journey or have had some work experience with us, have the opportunity to come along to the ceremonies (Daventry & Booth Lane) and receive their certificates and, in some cases, prizes.
This is a really wonderful opportunity for students to feel proud of their achievements and receive the acknowledgement they deserve. It's also good for the Library staff, who put a lot of effort into the admin and encouragement of the various challenges. It's a mutual appreciation, plus there's cake!
Well done everyone and enjoy your ceremonies, wherever they may be...

Six Book Challenge update

The Six Book Challenge is starting to draw to a close, so this is a reminder to all those Challengers who still have a book or two left to read. The official end date is Friday 24th May so you have about 4 weeks left. We have already had around 132 students finish the Challenge across the 3 sites, so a huge well done to them. For anyone struggling with the last few books remember the incentives:
  • a certificate to add to your portfolio
  • a prize from the Library for all those who finish
  • a prize for the 3 best diaries
  • entry into a national prize draw for completers - a trip to London for the winner and guest including a show and £150 spending money and a Kobo touch eReader for three runners-up
Looks pretty good. We have lots of fiction books including Quick Reads, you can read newspapers or magazines, you can read an article on a website, you can use parts of your textbooks. Just fill in your diaries and bring them into the Library. Happy reading.

Six Book Challenge Awards Day

Congratulations to all those students who have completed this year's Six Book Challenge. You've done really well. In recognition of that and the large number of particpants we had this year, the Library has decided to have an awards ceremony.
On Monday 28th May at 10am we will be welcoming Genevieve Clark from The Reading Agency (who run the Six Book Challenge) and author Rosie Rushton. They will be here to talk to students and hand out certificates to those who have finished. This is really great news and a wonderful opportunity for students to talk to people directly involved with the Challenge and who want to hear your success stories, and someone who writes for young people.
Tutors have been informed of all details for the ceremony, but other students are welcome in at 11am if they have any questions for either of our guests.
Have a look at Rosie's website to find out more information about her and her stories
